Dr. Cooper is a graduate of Ohio State University College of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Ohio State University, where he graduated cum laude. His postdoctoral training included an intensive dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Dr. Cooper also served the United States Army as Chief of the Department of Dermatology at Fort Campbell between 1966 and 1968. Dr. Cooper is a Board-Certified Dermatologist with special interest and extensive training in medical dermatology, Mohs Micrographic surgery, moles and skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology and laser surgery. As a long-standing member of the American Board of Dermatology, he serves as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Emory University and is affiliated with Dekalb Medical Center and Northside Hospital. Dr. Cooper is the former President of the Georgia Society of Dermatologic Surgeons and proudly serves as an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Mohs Surgery, and the Georgia Society of Dermatologic Surgeons. Dr. Cooper has been named one of America’s Top Physicians in 2003 to 2005 and voted Atlanta’s Best Dermatologist in 2013 and 2014, amongst other awards for his expertise.
Dr. Cornelius is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She received her undergraduate degree with honors in psychology from the University of Georgia. Dr. Cornelius’ postdoctoral training includes a general medicine residency at the University of Tennessee, where she served as the program’s Chief Resident, followed by the dermatology residency program at the University of Chicago where she led her peers as Chief Resident in Dermatology. Dr. Cornelius is a Board-Certified Dermatologist with a special interest and training in general dermatology, ethnic skin conditions, hair disorders and cosmetic dermatology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and Atlanta Association for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. In 2012, Dr. Cornelius returned to her hometown and began practicing in the metro-Atlanta area. She joined Atlanta Dermatology & Laser Surgery in May 2014. Dr. Cornelius is currently accepting new patients for all medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology appointments.
Michele has been with Atlanta Dermatology and Laser Surgery since 1990 initially as a Certified Medical Assistant. While working under Dr. Cooper as a CMA, she began training to become a Certified Laser Technician. Michele has performed cosmetic and laser procedures for 21 years, and is an active member of The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. As an expert in laser and cosmetic procedures, Michele specializes in laser resurfacing, facial rejuvenation, tattoo removal, laser hair removal, skin tightening, fat reduction, and more!
Heather Schardan is our most recent addition to ATL Skin’s team of Skin Care Experts. She graduated from the Academy of Spa Esthetics and the International School of Skin and Nail Care in Atlanta then spent the next 15 years in Atlanta’s top spas building a sterling reputation among clients and colleagues. Her passion for skin care is evident not only in her results and but her loyal following of patients. It was her own life long struggle with acne that led Heather to want to find greater levels of correction. She studied medically esthetic treatments and became a skilled licensed laser practitioner. She believes that the confidence once has in their appearance is the most impactful part of her beloved profession. “There are people who hate looking in the mirror and it affects so much of their lives. Watching patients go through treatments and watching their confidence soar, as they fall in love with their skin is the most rewarding part of my job. It’s why I do what I do”.
